Hamburg, March 2020. Since May last year, the joint logistics project has been saving time, packaging waste and CO² emissions and is now being expanded to include another sustainability initiative. MSD Tiergesundheit, Vetoquinol and heiland.com are supplementing their innovative logistics project with the "Plant-for-the-Planet" campaign. A tree will be planted for every combined order placed by the two manufacturers on the online ordering platform heiland.com by May 31, 2020. A project that continues to provide more comfort in everyday practice and at the same time has a double positive effect on the ecological footprint.

More than 12 tons less CO² thanks to around 6,500 shipments as a combination package. This is the result of the nine-month test phase. “We are very pleased that our joint project has met with so much acceptance and positive feedback. A great success for the simplification of everyday practice and at the same time for the environmental balance. We would like to strengthen this even further this year and, together with Vetoquinol and MSD Tiergesundheit, we are taking a new path for a better ecological balance," say the two Heiland brothers Jaan and Claas Heiland.

One package, many advantages: now in regular operation

The logistics project that started in May 2019 has turned into an order record. Just two months after the start of the project, the 1,000th joint package rolled off the assembly line at the logistics partner NextPharma GmbH. The overall very positive feedback from customers and all partners involved reflects the success. That's why joint shipping is now an integral part of the services provided by heiland.com, Vetoquinol and MSD Tiergesundheit.

By shipping them together in one package, the logistics project saves 40 percent of packaging material per order. The CO² emissions are also reduced by an average of approx. 2 kilograms of CO² per delivery. In addition to the improved environmental balance, combined shipping offers veterinarians a number of other advantages. 

Thanks to fewer parcels being accepted, it reduces the number of interruptions in everyday practice and, in addition to more efficient ordering, leads to further time savings. In addition, the usual delivery conditions remain in place and, in the best case, the veterinarians save double the shipping fee; the combination packages are always sent with temperature control and the customer continues to receive their individual manufacturer conditions.

A look into the future could mean that even more veterinary medicine companies are participating in the joint shipping. The first customers have already expressed this wish: "Hopefully it will soon be possible to order more products in one package via heiland.com! We want to reduce the number of packaging even more and improve the environmental balance," confirms Ms. Nzibila, senior veterinary assistant at the small animal clinic Wasbek in Schleswig-Holstein.
